The range of applications for photovoltaics is extremely versatile yet largely unknown to many. Photovoltaics cannot only be integrated onto noise barrier walls, but onto buildings as well. Through photovoltaic building integration, TNC has generated more than 60 kW in Switzerland alone over the past few years.

Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Systems

The integration of the blue PV modules is becoming both more professional and pleasing to the eye. The result is an attractive, high-tech facade that produces electricity while also saving you money on traditional facade elements. In many cases the modules are also used as a shading system for the building. This method of photovoltaic integration also takes advantage of unused space for energy generation and does not require additional square meters of space.

Over the past several years TNC has been working intensively on PV facade integration for properties that have large, unused wall and roof areas. The planning and design of grid-connected, facade-integrated PV systems is now based on over 10 yearsŐ worth of experience.

Services

As the project guide for building-integrated photovoltaic systems, TNC assumes a variety of tasks such as designing a basic concept, contacting the electrical power company and dealing with public relations.

Our services include:

  • Conducting of feasibility studies for industry, commerce, cities and communities
  • Architect support beginning in the planning phase
  • System planning, requests for proposals and construction management
  • Implementation of measurement campaigns to monitor success
  • Development of financing concepts (energy contracting, business partner search, etc.)
  • System operation: we can assume responsibility for operating specific kinds of systems on behalf of our customers
  • Public relations: information campaigns for the customers of our clients or the general public.

Operators (communities, cities and companies) are interested in long-term concepts. Their own mission statements often call for the use of renewable energy sources.

TNC thus carried out, among other things, the planning and implementation of:

  • the PV system on the Chur train station,
  • the 22 kW system in front of the parliamentary building in Bern,
  • and the first system for the solar power exchange in Zurich: a 32 kW system in Stadtmühle, Zurich. Swissmill began operating the second PV system on the high-bay warehouse in Zurich in 2004.
  • TNC also takes on project planning and implementation jobs outside of Switzerland.
